Mechatronics Engineering Student

Building systems where hardware meets code.

I'm Mitch — a first-year Mechatronics Engineering undergraduate designing, building and documenting embedded systems, sensors and control projects. Currently seeking placement year opportunities in space, defence and LEGO engineering.

About

A little about my approach

I'm a Mechatronics Engineering undergraduate with a hands-on approach to learning — I'd rather build something and debug it at 2am than just read about it. My coursework and personal projects span PCB design, register-level microcontroller programming, and precision sensor integration.

Outside of coursework, I document everything: component sourcing, calibration notes, failure modes and fixes. That habit is the backbone of this site — every project here is written up the way I'd want to read it myself.

I'm currently building out my portfolio ahead of placement year applications, with particular interest in space, defence and LEGO engineering roles.

What I work on

Embedded Systems

Register-level firmware on AVR/ARM microcontrollers, real-time control loops, and low-level driver work.

Sensors & Signal Processing

Ultrasonic, optical and Hall-effect sensing, noise rejection, calibration and micron-level accuracy work.

Control & Power Electronics

PID tuning, rectification and drive circuits, and PCB layout for compact, testable subsystems.

Open to placement year opportunities

Space, defence and LEGO engineering roles especially welcome — happy to talk about any of the projects on this site.
